As a freelance copywriter in New Zealand

I spend my workdays intentionally wielding words that work blooming hard for clients’ businesses worldwide

Yes, this is ostensibly a page about me. But let’s start with a little bit about you. Because a lot of words and strategy go into promoting a business. And, chances are, you didn’t start yours because you’re a master of marketing.

No. You’re passionate about what you do. You know your product, craft or service inside out. You’re dedicated to delivering a positive experience for your clients or customers.

But the copy you crafted initially can only take you so far.

You can’t find the balance of selling your services or products without being sleazy. And staring at the blinking cursor trying to decide what to say, when, to distill the vision behind your brand, entice people to stick around and read your site, and persuade your browsers to buy from you—not to mention, tick Google’s boxes!—is overwhelming, to say the least.

So right now you’re looking to bring on a copywriter to capture your voice, inspire your audience to take action, and communicate your value like a pro. Which is where I would love to step in and support you.

I’m an England-born Auckland copywriter, gratefully collaborating with businesses in NZ, Australia and further afield.

How did I end up running a boutique copywriting studio?

Well. Let’s just say words have always been my “thing”.

I earned my BA in English Literature, did an internship in journalism at People magazine, found my content-creation groove in marketing in London, then sharpened my skills as in-house copywriter for one of Australia’s leading business coaches.

Moving to Auckland in 2017 was my launchpad into freelance copywriting.

Since then, I’ve also spent time as working within an NZ digital marketing agency—crafting website copy, sales pages, ads, EDM content and SEO blog posts for little and large New Zealand businesses.

NOWADAYS?

I write thoughtful, results-driven copy for my personal clients—businesses across a range of industries—from my Auckland office nook.

Some are more creative, others more corporate. Some are bricks and mortar, others 100% digital.

But whatever the tone of voice, vibe and vocation, the copy is always crafted to be engaging, empathetic and persuasive—with rock-solid, research-backed foundations.

(I always dive into your business back story, perform VoC research, and strategise SEO keywords to target on individual pages.)

My Copywriting Credo

THE VALUES AND PRINCIPLES THAT underpin every client project

  • Connection.

When we work together, my hope is that it’ll feel like two equally-invested team members talking shop over coffee. (Long black for me!) That’s why I always meet my clients over Zoom to discuss their business, backstory and buyers in-depth. Bonus? Our tête-à-tête helps me make my words sound like you!

  • Collaboration.

Great copy is a truly collaborative process. That’s why I love to work WITH my clients, not just for them. Don't worry, I'll bring the conversion know-how, SEO best practices and the word wizadry—but your input, insights and timely responses are invaluable to the best outcome of our work, and to ensure we meet delivery deadlines.

  • Research, Not Guesswork.

The best results happen when we spend time understanding your clients or customers—ideally, with interviews and “Voice of Customer Research” (aka: investigative reporter-esque sleuthing and interviewing). The end result? Messaging that resonates with the right people and reels in the right leads.

A few things you'd find out about me over coffee...

a peek behind the laptop

  1. I made the move from England to New Zealand in 2017, courtesy of my Kiwi husband, and started my business when I arrived!
    2. Auckland’s beautiful beaches and coastlines make my heart do cartwheels.
    3. I love all things hygge and cosiness & interior design magazines are the only ones I read.
    4. Weekends aren’t complete without pilates + visiting the beach with our sassy little pooch, Booch, and sweet-as-honey rescue bully Venus.
    5. I’ve watched David Fincher’s Girl with the Dragon Tattoo film soooo many times I’ve lost count. Skål! 🥂
    6. I eat dark chocolate and sip black coffee first thing every single day.

Think we could go together like sav and summer?

*Clink!* 🥂 Then shimmy straight into my inbox, and let’s take your website or sales copy from confusing or snooze-inducing for your browsers (not to mention, oh-so-stressful for you to create!)—to crystal clear, compelling and crafted to convert.

And yes, we’ll make sure it plays nice with Google too.
